ps- Happy New Year's!

I Know What I Am Going To-Do Today...

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE!!!

There was NOTHING on my list for this week, except to do whatever I want! ....and I have been doing just that!

I am a firm believer, that after pulling off a MAJOR event like Christmas, moms deserve to take a week off! For years I have lazed about the week in between Christmas and New Year's.  Jammies, jammies everyday!  Dinner?  Maybe.  Lunch, no way!  Breakfast? ..isn't that what all of the crap that came in the stockings is for?  Laundry?  ...on a need to do basis only ;D

I did put actual clothes on a few times here and there, as needed.  We saw Les Miserable the Wednesday before Christmas at a sneak preview and then again the Thursday after Christmas (fully dressed both times).  I REALLY love that movie!  It brought me to tears both times. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! (I do not recommend this movie for kids).

So, the big question... did I sew???  yep :)  ...drum roll, please...

I FINALLY made my friend Chrisann's (The AWESOME Kindergarten Teacher) quilt.  Blogged HERE.

And a zippered pouch for my soon to be sil's mom :)  Will be blogged HERE Wednesday.

Christmas Fabric Yummies!

For Christmas, my mom made weekender bags for all of her daughters and daughter in laws.

Since I already had MY OWN, she had to come up with something special for me :)

I think she did a mighty fine job!

There are three fat quarters and six half yard cuts.

I think these are going to get turned into a wedding quilt for my daughter who is getting married in April.

Did I mention that my oldest daughter got engaged the Saturday before Christmas????

My nine year old was the photographer :)

Calling family to share the good news.

Mike proposed at Salem Pond with all of the beautiful Christmas light twinkling in the back ground.

They have been dating since they were 16.

Yes, I am too young to have married children! ;)

They are both turning 21 in the next few weeks and I [think I] will be turning 44 the week after the wedding.  The very worst/strangest part is that there is the possibility that I could be a grandma next Christmas!

Maybe I should give them a 3 year supply of birth control for a wedding present ;D

A Disaster!!!

Here is what happens when I sew and sew and sew...

Days of sewing...

..no cleaning..

...scrappy H.E.double toothpicks...

..there used to be carpet...

...another angle of slob land...

There is a garbage can down there.... somewhere...

Presto Chango..... or should I say, Bippity Boppity Boo!!!

The carpet reappears!!

With a little magic, all of the solid scraps fit in this little box ;)

See my cute new additions to my zipper stash?

This is clean... trust me ;D

Sweet Emily (my favorite CrazyOldLady) gave me perfect sign.  I need a frame!

...and as luck would have it, with another wave of my magic wand....

It's on it's way to a respectable mess again!

Those darn solids won't stay in their box!

Happy sewing day!!! xoxo

Chrisann "The AWESOME Kindergarten Teacher's" Quilt

This quilt has been on my to-do list since last May when my baby graduated from kindergarten.

I've been crushing on hexies for a while, so hexies it is!

I saw this tutorial a while ago HERE.

The original tutorial calls for 1.5" strips and I used 3.5" strips.

I also didn't want to trim the side hexies.

I mixed a bit of cream and taupe for the neutral.

The design took me a minute to sort out.

The majority of the fabric is from "Secret Garden" by Sandi Henderson

Because of how wide I cut the strips I couldn't get quite enough equilateral triangles to make solid rings and centers like in the tutorial.

I like how the scrappy version turned out.

I am going to use this same pattern for my sisters baby quilt next month.

I will try a narrower strip... either 2.5" or 3"

For the quilting I did a wave pattern.

I used the yummy cuddle minky again.

No batting.

I wrapped the backing for the binding again too.

I had to experiment with the pinked edges and the binding.

It's not perfect, but I like it ;D

And yes, this is the same fabric I used for the Wolf's quilt blogged HERE.

The Wolf's Quilt

We have some very dear friends who have been a great blessing to our family.

We wanted to do something special for Christmas for them.

I can't think of anything more special than a quilt ;D

I whipped this baby out last Saturday afternoon.

It went together very nicely :)

The backing is a cuddle minky I bought at JoAnn's on sale ;)

It is SO darn soft and squishy!!!

It was so squishy I didn't even use batting ;)

I also just wrapped the backing around for the binding.

I may have a new favorite quilt backing... and binding technique.

I hope you are enjoying your week between Christmas and New Year's.  It is my FAVORITE week of the year!!! xo
