Bangle Borders

I decided to do a 1.5" hexy border with the white background prints from Emily Herrick's Going Coastal and Shore Thing.

The border will be finished so that it is still all hexied out ;)

For the quilting, I am thinking very small pebble fmq for the white.  Hand quilting for the hexies :)

I'm using the tutorial from Badskirt HERE for finishing the quilt.  Its BRILLIANT and DARLING!!!

What the sCRAP???

Are you feeling sCRAPPY today???

April and I were chatting about all of the wonderful sCRAPs that we have acquired ...and in the same breath were cursing them too ;)  We came up with a plan to get rid of our sCRAP and to keep them under control.

Here is a picture of my scrap bag.

This is a full size "bed in a bag" bag.  ...and it's exploding out the top!  [I have to beat it back down regularly.]

This is mostly my selvages and binding leftovers.  I have TONS more scraps hidden through out my stash.

April and I came up with the idea that as soon as we finish a quilt, we'll immediately make an impromptu block [or something else] out of the scraps.  Right then!  No shoving them into some bag or off to the side!  I LOVE it!

April is going to make 12" blocks.  I am going to be making 1" epp hexies.  I am also going to make string blocks with my bag o' terror!  I figure if I dedicate a few minutes of every sewing session, I can get these scraps under control!  One or two blocks a week will make the world a happy place :)

Feel free to add our button to your sidebar and join in the fun!!

Let's get our sCRAP under control!!!

Because Bangles ROCK

Ta-Da!!!  The bangles are all hand stitched together :)

I have a REALLY BIG crush on this quilt. (I LOVE epp)

It pressed up so nicely with a little Maggie's Classy Hooch Press ;D

Next came the applique process.  I decided to hand applique the bangles to a white background.

Once I was finished appliqueing the bangles on the background, I snipped the white backing away.

We have company coming tonight, so I am not sure if I'll get much more if this quilt done this week :)  I'd like to get the top finished so I can baste the quilt and have it handy for all of the hand quilting this sweet baby is going to get :)

I feel like a slacker this past week ;)  My college daughter was home for semester break so I spent most of the week playing with her. :)

Monday I went over to Emily's to put together a top for her.  It is heading off to Konda today for quilting today and then back to me for binding.  I can't show you any pictures yet, but I'l be able to next month :)

Tuesday I was shopping with Ashley up at City Creek in Salt Lake City.  We had a GREAT time!  Thursday we went shopping again, only this time we added my mom :)

More EPP & Challenge Quilt

It's about time that I begin to work on the Challenge Quilt for the Peteetneet Quilt Show this coming June!

Last year I EPP'd the challenge fabric into these cute 1.5" hexies.  ...and in the bin they sat, and sat ;D...

...until I saw the super fun Bangles on IG.
(The picture on ig was from @debpotteringabout, my favorite ig Aussie)

Being totally broke, I came up with my own plan and made my own epp templates.
We shall see what happens ;)

(I have no idea what method Sarah uses in her pattern)

I did this wonky mock up last night.  I didn't press my blues before I started stitching, and I think that is some of my problem.  We are going to be lazing about at cousins all day today, so I figure I can make a few more to see if they will fit together nicely or if I need to make some modifications to my templates :)

Wish me luck!

Happy Weekend!

I am off on a HOT date with my hubby :)

Piano Keys Border Begins

This border is 3.5" (3" finished)

Two of the borders are sewn on.  The other two are waiting for the corner posts to be designed and sewn.

I went with random widths of the greens that I haven't used in the quilt yet :)  The widths range between 1.5" and .5".

I wont be able to work on this baby until Friday, so check back Saturday for an update :)
